The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at Tufts University invites applicants for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level as part of a focused effort to further strengthen key research areas. Exceptional candidates will be considered at other ranks. The anticipated start date is September 2025. Current research interests of the department include biomaterials, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, sensing systems including medical electronics and optics, imaging, instrumentation and measurement, bioelectronics and more. The successful candidate is expected to develop and maintain an active, highly visible research program and to demonstrate excellence in teaching, including core biomedical engineering subjects, and in mentoring both undergraduate and graduate students. We seek applicants whose research complements our current department strengths, and we will consider candidates across all research areas relevant to biomedical engineering, including both experimental and/or computational approaches. We seek individuals who embrace opportunities to work collaboratively within the department as well as across the School of Engineering (SOE) and the University.

Established at Tufts University in September 2002, the Biomedical Engineering Department is located in the Science and Technology Center on the Medford campus. The Department offers undergraduate programs (Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering, second major in biomedical engineering, second major in biomedical sciences, minor in biomedical engineering), and graduate programs (Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in biomedical engineering, Master of Science in bioengineering, certificate in bioengineering) within the framework of cutting edge research programs lead by its faculty members.
