Manatee County, Florida has a great opportunity with excellent benefits for a motivated and passionate individual to serve in the role of Traffic Design and Safety Engineer in the Public Works Department. Our Traffic Engineering Division provides for the safe and efficient movement of vehicles, goods, pedestrians, and cyclists on our roads through the use of traffic control devices, data, and Advance Traffic Management Systems (ATMS) infrastructure. This position performs various tasks related to traffic design, operations, and safety. Typical tasks will involve performing field reviews, data collecting analysis and provide recommendations to improve safety and mobility for all road users. Produce construction plans and review traffic design plans (such as traffic signals, signing and pavement markings, and Intelligent Transportation Systems). Performing traffic operations and safety studies to implement low-cost safety and operational improvements at intersections and along corridors.
Essential Job Functions:
Review Traffic Signal, Signing and Pavement Markings, and Maintenance of Traffic Design plans associated with construction plans for consistency with Federal State and County standards/guidelines.
Prepares construction plans, specifications, engineering reports, and cost estimates for projects.
Design, produce, sign and seal plans for Traffic Signals, Signing and Pavement Markings, and Advance Traffic Management System (ATMS) infrastructure for in-house projects.
Performing traffic operations and safety studies to implement low-cost safety and operational improvements.
