About City of Waco
Known for being a great place to live and work, the City of Waco provides many economic opportunities and cultural experiences. Waco, Texas is centrally located in the heart of Texas on the I-35 corridor midway between Dallas - Fort Worth and Austin and is a central city in the Texas Triangle – a ‘megapolitan’ region bounded by Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and Austin. We are a progressive and diverse city with a vibrant community spirit that offers major attractions, museums, recreation, and abundant shopping. Waco is the 25th largest city in Texas and the county seat of McLennan County. Waco is also the birthplace of Dr Pepper, the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum, and the Texas Sports Hall of Fame. The iconic Waco Suspension Bridge, spans the beautiful Brazos River and is a timeless symbol of Waco's role in the historic cattle drives that helped shape the frontier Texas economy.
The City of Waco is home to Baylor University, McLennan Community College (MCC) and Texas State Technical College (TSTC). The City boasts the award-winning Cameron Park Zoo and Waco Mammoth National Monument. The City annually hosts the Bicycle World Ironman Waco 70.3 Triathlon and Brazos Nights, ...an outdoor concert series.
Former HGTV hosts Chip & Joanna Gaines proudly call Waco home and operate two of Waco’s most highly visited sites in the Magnolia Market at the Silos and Magnolia Table. Each year, the Gaines' host Silobration, a multi-day party that includes a midway, artisan vendors, food trucks and music concerts.
Our mission is to provide exemplary municipal services in a collaborative and transparent manner while honoring the public's trust.
