ROLE SUMMARY:

Duties and Responsibilities

• Utilize Quote Express estimating software to prepare bids.
• Prepare competitive bids as required (proposals, bid forms, budgets, etc.) to meet project needs.
• Interpret specifications, blueprints and addenda.
• Prepare and communicate requests for information to clarify project scope during estimating process.
• Evaluate most efficient methods of installation and material usage to minimize projected costs/bids.
• Develop pricing/bid strategies with vendors/subcontractors to maximize competiveness at bid time.
• Make notes or clarifications on construction documents to assist Operations team with installation.
• Review project estimate, material and manpower requirements with Operations team prior to bid to establish any factors required to compensate for project conditions (Pre-Bid Review).
• Set up project material and labor budgets by task.
• Support Operations team in preparing material purchase orders and subcontractor scopes.
• Conduct and/or attend turnover meetings for contracted projects and provide budgetary information and defined scope to Operations group.
• Provide baseline production data (footages/quantities) to allow Operations team to track productivity.
• Review production data and implement into estimating labor units.
• Attend monthly department meetings if requested.
• Attend pre-bid meetings as needed.
• Attend weekly estimating meeting, coordinate bidding activities with the estimating group to focus on combined opportunities and to avoid scope gaps between MEP trades.
• Attend closeout meetings to review outcome of projects and compare estimate to actual costs.
• Along with Department Manager explore new areas to expand profitable department revenue.
• Establish and maintain working relationships with customers (suppliers, vendors, subcontractors, owners, general contractors and design consultants).
• Attend trade related, networking, charitable and marketing events to promote business for the Plumbing Department and B&I.
• Job performance to be measured based on accuracy of estimates, time required to complete estimates and meeting volume and profitability goals.
