City Engineer Job Summary Under general direction of the Public Works Director, the City Engineer is responsible for the leadership and management of the Engineering Division. Plans, organizes and directs the day-to-day activities of the Engineering division. Oversees major utility studies. Serves as the responsible engineer for the design, preparation of plans and specifications, and construction of public works projects; supervises site development plan reviews and construction inspections; ensures compliance with City codes, ordinances, and engineering practices and standards; administers consultant contracts; coordinates policy issues through the Director and supervises assigned personnel.

The City of Oak Harbor was incorporated in 1915 and operates under the Mayor-Council form of government. The Mayor and City Council are elected at-large for four-year overlapping terms. The Mayor serves as the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for the development of budgets and related financial plans, and the overall operation of the City. The Mayor directly supervises the City Administrator, City Attorney, Police Chief and Fire Chief. The City Administrator directly supervises the Development Services Director, Finance Director, Human Resources Director and Public Works Director.
The City of Oak Harbor employs approximately 130 full-time personnel and operates with an overall budget of $138 million ($16.4 million General Fund).
