The Advanced Structures and Composites Center has immediate openings for Engineers to support research on the Army Corps Engineer Research and Development Center project.
The University of Maine’s Advanced Structures and Composites Center (ASCC) in collaboration with the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), is conducting research in the area of novel material and systems. Past R&D efforts have led to the development and adoption of the rapidly deployable composite bride girder system. Currently, we are looking to expand the ERDC project staff and add Engineers focused in mechanical design to the ERDC team.
This position will focus in the design of a piece of equipment aiming to increase field manufacturing of composites capabilities of the sponsor for US Army Expeditions, and future domestic infrastructure. For this cutting edge design assignment, experience in key areas will be considered such as: Mechanical design in systems and component level, Parametric modeling in CAD software (preferably SOLIDWORKS), Controls and Circuits Development, Computer Programming, Structural and Finite Element Analysis, and project and operations management.
