Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking On - Call Engineers – Nationwide FEMA Disaster Recovery to support ongoing and future FEMA disaster recovery programs.
Work Locations - Various throughout the US dependent on project needs (These positions report into our Chantilly, VA office, however candidates are not required to live or work in Virginia)
The Engineers will be responsible for supporting FEMA’s Public Assistance program facilitating recovery efforts throughout the country. This is a deployment position that could be located anywhere in the county, dependent on FEMA needs. Typical assignments under this program require deployment between six months and one year.
This is an on - call position. Compensation is on an hourly basis, 0 - 40 hours per week, dependent on project needs.
Perform site inspections to document disaster - related damage
Reviewing and analyzing professional architectural / engineering reports and designs or as - built plans
Thoroughly documenting analyses in writing
Developing scopes of work, including related code and standard requirements
Validating applicant - provided scopes of work, including related code and standard requirements
Developing and reviewing cost estimates
Advising FEMA staff on the technical validity of claims presented under FEMA’s arbitration process
Skills / Qualifications
Must be a US citizen
Must pass drug test, background check
Must be able to obtain a Federal Public Trust Clearance
Undergraduate Degree in Engineering, Architecture or another related subject with minimum 2 years in field of expertise and professional registration; or undergraduate degree with 5 years in field of expertise (Entry - level)
Undergraduate Degree in Engineering, Architecture or another related subject with minimum 5 years in field of expertise and professional registration; or undergraduate degree with 10 years in field of expertise (Mid - level)
Undergraduate Degree in Engineering, Architecture or another related subject with minimum 10 years in field of expertise and professional registration; or undergraduate degree with 15 years in field of expertise (Senior level)
Preferred Qualifications (All Levels):
Prior FEMA Public Assistance program experience is highly desired
Professional license(s) or registration(s) preferred (e.g. Professional Engineer)
Ability to travel nationwide for extended periods of time (six to twelve months on - site) is required
Ability to work extended hours as needed
Ability to perform office / field work in austere conditions
Existing FEMA Badge is highly desired
Experience using RS Means and Cost Estimating Format (CEF)
Experience performing Benefit?Cost Analysis (BCA)
Knowledge of, and experience with Building Code Standards
