The selected candidate will be a member of a professional team responsible for the survey, design, construction supervision and as-built documentation of agricultural projects for the Watershed Agricultural Program (WAP) in the West of Hudson New York City Watershed. Preference given to candidates that have experience in designing agricultural Best Management Practices including diversion ditches, waterways, culvert crossings, underground outlets, spring developments, barnyard water exclusions and waste storage facilities.
The selected candidate will be required to prepare engineering designs according to USDA/NRCS standards and specifications. Experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and ARCMap preferred but not required. Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D or related software required.
A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Forest Technology, Landscape Design, Natural Resource Conservation or closely related studies and 2 years experience in Agricultural, Civil or Environmental Engineering which shall include survey and design-related work; OR B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associates degree in Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Forest Technology, Landscape Design, Natural Resource Conservation, Surveying or closely related studies and 4 years of experience in Agricultural, Civil or Environmental Engineering which shall include survey and design-related work; OR C) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined in A & B above. AND D) A valid Driver’s License required. AND E) Civil Service exam required following provisional appointment.
